| One of Australia’s most promising drifters recently returned from a stint in the motherland (Japan) to compete in the Drift Australia series with a new team, new colours and hunger for winning, and SecretDrift have an exclusive interview with him.
SD: How did you get into Drifting?
JY: Saw a very good Japanese guy street drifting in AUS and though I want to do that
SD: What was your first drift car?
JY: A MR2 SW20
SD: What is your favorite drift car?
JY: Ae86 Hachi Rocku, the one I own know
SD: Why do you think drifting is so popular?
JY: Cause all the cool kids want to do it (laughs) SD: The ultimate question Nissan or Toyota?
JY: Holden (laughs)
SD: If someone wanted to learn how to drift how would you recommend they learn and get help?
JY: Get an already capable drifter to teach them on a skid pan in controlled environment.
SD: What it is like going sideways at 140ks+ with another car less than 50cm away from you?
JY: Fun always fun an adrenalin rush (laughs)
SD: VB or 4xxxx?
JY: Neither - Beers for bogans – “Andy” I drink beer. (laughs)
SD: How did traveling to Japan affect your drifting
and life?
Made me realise that we should all move to japan to drift and it helped me on a personal level to improve my drifting. SD: What goals do you want to achieve being as a pro level drifter in AUS?
JY: Being able to drift and be paid for it
SD: If any has there been a negative affect on drifting to your life?
Always perpetually mother fucking broke!!! (laughs)
